7. Tell us a bit about where you are at the moment and what you’re doing there: I am currently living in London for the foreseeable future studying a degree in Primary Education to become a teacher. There isn’t much travelling going on at the moment but once I’m qualified I’m hoping to teach all over the world.

TRAVEL TIDBITS

8. First ever travel experience:

My first trip abroad was to Barbados when I was 10, it was part of my local villages cricket tour and the only time I have ever gone on an all inclusive holiday.

9. Where’s next in your travel plans?:

I will be heading to Iceland and NYC for a few days before Christmas. Hoping to see the northern lights, bathe in the blue lagoon, ice skate at central park, climb the rock, see an NFL game (tickets are booked already) and stuff my face with American food!

10. Give me the top 3 places you’ve visited and why:

South Africa because it gave me the travel bug. I spent six weeks volunteering here in 2010 and it completely changed my outlook on life. Not to mention the awesome beaches and laid back way of like. Without taking that trip to South Africa I’m not sure I would have the love of travel I do today and I certainly wouldn’t be training to be a teacher. SA will always be special to me.

New Zealand because it is incredible. I spent three weeks travelling around the country and experienced so many different landscapes and awesome adventures. It really does have something for everyone from the classy cities of Wellington and Auckland to the crazy adrenaline fueled Queenstown. Then there are beaches and mountains and a whole town that smells like rotten egg aka Rotorura.

Australia because it is my second home. I lived in Australia for nine months and although I still feel like I have barely scrapped the surface of this incredible country, I feel very much in love with it. From the laid back way of life, amazing breakfasts to the vast landscapes and scary creatures. Australia is everything you expect and more.

11. What 5 countries do you want to visit that you haven’t yet been to?:

Iceland
Tanzania
Norway
Peru
Maldives

12. If you could avoid going anywhere where would it be and why?: 

If I’ve never been there then I certainly wouldn’t avoid it on purpose however there are a few place I’ve been too and I’m in no hurry to return to like: Patong in Phuket and Newcastle and Townsville in Australia.

13. What are your top 5 travelling items?

Canon 550D camera, iPhone, Macbook Pro, Go Pro and a Journal/Notepad

Yikes, I really rely on technology far too much, I blame blogging.

14. Best bit of advice you’ve ever been given:

I’m not sure if I’d really call it advice but I have been living my life by this quote for the last four years. “Stop waiting for something to happen go out and make it happen”

15. Worst advice?

Someone convincing me jumping of a canyon would be a good idea, I certainly didn’t get the same kick as I did skydiving!

16. What do you miss most when you’re travelling?

Marmite, my Mum’s cooking and of course my friends and family.

17. Hostel, Hotel or other: Glamping or camping or campervanning, I love being outdoors, especially if it is hot and sunny weather.

18. Favourite food from another country: Thai especially sweet and sour seafood noodles.

19. Favourite mode of transport (plane, train, bus, tuk tuk etc): Car or campervan – I love a good roadtrip!

20. Guilty pleasure?:  Listening to Taylor Swift, although I don’t really feel that guilty about this…

21. Best travel app?: I don’t use many travel apps, probably because I invested in a smartphone since returning from my gapyear but I’m always relying on my XE currency convertor.

22. Favourite travelling soundtrack/What are you listening to at the moment?: Avicii – Wake Me Up – because it will always remind me of travelling through Asia.

23. Favourite travel movie? I have watched an appallingly small about of movies, and genuinely don’t think I have a favourite travel movie. Any film which ignites wanderlust or makes me pine to visit a country is good though.

24. Favourite travel book? Again I really don’t think I have a favourite travel book but there are several books that remind me of travelling and could tell you exactly where I was when I read that book.
